Frequently asked questions
What is a Mobile Mortgage Advisor?
A Mobile Mortgage Advisor is a CIBC mortgage specialist who comes to you. Rekha meets clients at their home, at work, at a coffee shop, or by phone or video, at a time that suits them, instead of asking them to visit a branch.
Is there a cost to meet with Rekha?
No. There is no charge to meet with Rekha and talk through your mortgage options.
Do I need to bank with CIBC already?
No. You don’t need to be a CIBC client to talk to Rekha about buying, renewing or switching your mortgage.
How much down payment do I need in Canada?
For a one- or two-unit home you will live in, the minimum is 5% of the first $500,000 of the price and 10% of the portion from $500,000 up to $1.5 million. Homes priced at $1.5 million or more need at least 20% down. With less than 20% down, the mortgage needs default insurance. Rental properties have different rules.
What documents do I need for a pre-approval?
Usually photo ID, proof of income (recent pay stubs and an employment letter, or Notices of Assessment if you are self-employed), proof of your down payment, and details of your debts. Rekha will tell you exactly what applies to you.
When should I start thinking about my mortgage renewal?
A good time is four to six months before your renewal date. That leaves time to compare options, including switching your mortgage to CIBC, without being rushed.
Which areas do you serve?
Rekha is based in Edmonton and meets clients across the city. Meetings can also be by phone or video.
